Avery Closser first joined Han Santos in February 2020 as a Receptionist. She took on added roles and responsibilities and was quickly promoted to Legal and Business Operations Assistant. Her role supporting the operations team includes recruitment program management, website content curation and scheduling training programs.
Prior to kickstarting her career, Avery committed herself to studies aboard. She lived in Buenos Aires to study Spanish and Latin American culture and politics. She also volunteered for an Argentinian children’s literacy organization.
Following her time in Argentina, Avery interned with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in Colombo, Sri Lanka. There she drafted a Gender in Agriculture Policy concept note, as well as a Climate Change Action Plan.
However, Avery’s attraction to the legal realm started while she was an intern with the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project out of Tacoma. She completed research on asylum cases, translated legal documents, and worked directly with clients found in the Northwest Detention Center.
Avery brings the firm a passion for hard-work and accelerates in improving systems for organization, research, and writing. This coupled with her experiences living outside the US give her a unique perspective on interpersonal communication and service.
