Robert O'Connell

Robert is Of Counsel at Han Santos, PLLC and focuses his practice on client counseling, portfolio evaluation/due diligence, and IP strategy.

Robert is an intellectual property lawyer with 20 years of experience. He has worked for several national IP law firms and was a Vice President, Patent Counsel at a large telecommunications company. His experience includes developing and implementing IP strategies, developing patent portfolios to maximize business objectives, managing large patent and trademark portfolios in various technologies, due diligences and acquisitions, standards practices and policies, international policy, copyrights, opinions, licensing, litigation and prosecution.

Prior to entering the practice of law, Robert worked as a software engineer for 10 years in the area of communications, air traffic control systems, and NASA systems.

Robert has a B.S. in Computer Science from Old Dominion University and a M.S. in Computer Science from Virginia Tech. He received his J.D. and LL.M. in Intellectual Property from the University of New Hampshire School of Law (formerly Franklin Pierce Law Center) and he received his M.B.A. from the University of San Diego.

Robert is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
